Township of Uxbridge Logo
While some logos follow a very strict research and development process, others come together in a more organic way. This was the case with the new logo for the Township of Uxbridge.
In 2017, we were approached by Uxbridge Recreation to create a graphic to celebrate a new program they were running in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. The aim was to create something that represented our community but also tied in the concept of getting active outdoors. Since we are the Trail Capital of Canada, it seemed natural to apply a forest theme to this graphic.
Once the project was complete, the Uxbridge Tourism group loved the theme and wanted to apply it to their brand – Discover Uxbridge. A merging of the graphic and logo was designed. This lead to the creation of a version that would be used to represent the Town of Uxbridge as a whole.
Over time, this graphic started to be recognized as the unofficial logo of Uxbridge, but there were obvious challenges to using a graphic as your logo. Town staff approached us to see what could be done to adjust the existing graphic to make it more user friendly, but be close enough to the original that it would continue to be recognized by those who had grown to identify it with the community.
Slight adjustments were made along with a full brand guide so the updated logo continues to be used throughout the Township whenever the official crest isn’t required.
