Adjust your Page settings to limit scam “Page Suspended” Messages
If you manage a Facebook page, you likely are seeing an influx in messages that look something like this:
“IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM META Your Facebook page is scheduled to be permanently removed due to violating our trademark rights. We made this decision…”
These messages are not only spam, but are designed to try and steal your information so they can gain access to your Facebook account.
In some cases, we see clients receiving 5-10 of these messages per day which is annoying and could potentially cause them to miss out on important messages from customers.
Although this won’t guarantee to eliminate this type of message altogether, by adjusting your Page’s Country settings to just the countries you do business within, you will see a reduction in these messages since a lot of them originate from countries outside Canada, the United States, Europe, the UK and Australia.
Follow the steps below to make this adjustment in your settings:
Step 1: Login to Facebook
Step 2: Click on your profile photo in the top right corner and switch into the profile for your Business Page.
Step 3: Click on the profile photo in the top right corner again (this time it will show your Business Page profile photo/logo) and click “Settings & Privacy” from the dropdown menu.

Step 4: Then from the next dropdown menu “Settings”

Step 5: On the left side menu, click “Followers and public content”

Step 6: Scroll down to “Country Restrictions” and click the little arrow to expand that section, then click “Edit”

Step 7: Search the countries you want your page to show up in. For example, we chose Canada and the United States. We don’t work with clients outside of these two countries. Below the country list, select the toggle for “Show only to certain countries.”

Step 8: Click “Save”
This will significantly reduce the number of spam messages you receive which will keep your account safer and make sure you don’t lose important conversations in the mix.
